California law requires online retailers to pay sales tax if they have a physical presence in the state.

San Luis Obispo, CA (PRWEB) January 31, 2014 The online digital printing company, Docucopies.com, clarified their stance on state sales tax laws and renewed their policy of paying the sales tax rather than passing that fee onto their customers.

This announcement follows up on their assertion in 2013 that they would not collect sales tax in California.

“California has been good to our company and we understand our state and community benefit from the sales tax collected on our services,” says Marketing Director/Vice President Jeff Corbo. “But our customers have been great to us as well, so as an act of goodwill we will continue to pick up the sales tax until further notice.”

When the company was originally looking at locations to better serve their West Coast clientele, the possibility of opening shop in Nevada or another neighboring to avoid California sales tax was considered. But ultimately the management decided on San Luis Obispo, Calif., partially because of the fair weather and high quality of life in the city known as “The Happiest Place in America.” Now, their employees are happy and nearly all of California gets free one-day shipping.

In the nearly two years since opening the new facility they have hired two new employees and participated in several community causes throughout the state.
