    Mumbai, A Counterfeiters’ Haven?
    Late last week, fake Canon printer cartridges and other products worth over Rs 2 Lakhs were seized from Mumbai’s Fort area, in a joint raid conducted by the police and officials of Enforcers of Intellectual Property Rights (EIPR).Following a tip-off from EIPR, a team from the MRA Marg Police Station, led by Police Sub Inspector, Naik, raided M/s Bharat Old Paper Mart and M/s Star Refilling located at Janmabhoomi Marg, Fort, and recovered thousands of fake ink cartridges of Canon.Also seized were hundreds of refilled ink cartridges, laser toners, empty cartridges and toners, chemicals and dyes, syringes, MRP stickers, holograms, outer boxes, and sealing machines.The total worth of the haul is estimated at over Rs 2 lakhs.The investigative team found that the shop premises were being used to manufacture counterfeit cartridges and laser toners under the brand names; Canon and Hewlett-Packard.The two persons arrested include: Bhagwanji Raghu Patel (30) and Dinesh Popatlal Daga (32). A case has been booked against the accused under FIR , and further investigations are in progress.Meanwhile, this is one more case reported of counterfeit computer goods being manufactured in and around Mumbai.
