Konica Minolta Awards Substantial Grant to Promote STEM and Environmental Education.

RAMSEY, N.J., May 4, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. (Konica Minolta) today announced that it will be furthering its efforts to promote environmental and STEM education by making an $115,000 donation to the Thielke Arboretum Environmental Education Center.

The donation will help fund the construction of an education center, which will allow for year-round science and environmental programming. The Thielke Arboretum is a wetland forest, with nature trails, gardens, a spring fed pond, and a sparkling brook. The arboretum's eleven acres support many species of trees and plants, the majority of which are native to this area. The planned 1,750ft Environmental Education Center will support an already existing education program that has been in place for years with no shelter during inclement weather, as well as providing facilities for visitors and the many arboretum volunteers.

"As a technology company that aims to create new value for society, Konica Minolta is committed to shaping our nation's future leaders and innovators. That is why we are focused on supporting the needs of today's youth and sparking their interest in learning and STEM," says Kevin Kern, senior vice president, marketing, Konica Minolta Business Solutions, USA, Inc. "We aspire to make Konica Minolta an institution that makes a significant and positive impact in the world."

"The arboretum holds endless educational opportunities and provides students with hands-on learning in the sciences while teaching the importance of environmental sustainability," says Tom Vielbig, president, Friends of the Glen Rock Arboretum. "With this generous donation from Konica Minolta, we hope to help the Arboretum reach thousands of students and inspire their passion for learning."

The presentation is planned for Tuesday April 28th at 10am at the entrance to the arboretum. The Thielke Arboretum is located at 460 Doremus Avenue, Glen Rock, NJ.

Konica Minolta has made more than a dozen donations to various organizations this year. It has also chosen to support organizations that promote science, technology, engineering, and math programs; education of children; and programs for empowerment through technology.
