    Empty cartridges turn green

A deal between Landcare Australia and empty toner cartridge collection service CartCollect has been inked, giving printing businesses and offices the opportunity to either be paid for the empty cartridges or donate the value of the cartridges to Landcare Australia, which CartCollect would do on the customer’s behalf.

According to the New South Wales Environmental Protection Authority, 1.5million toner cartridges are thrown away annually, equating to 1500 tonnes of non-biodegradable waste being dumped in landfills.
ATC I.T. Supplies general manager Peter Costa says that this waste is needless and that used cartridges can be easily and efficiently reused.

“Most toner cartridges can be remanufactured up to four or five times by replacing a couple of key imaging components and still perform well,” says Costa.

“By establishing a partnership With Landcare Australia, we hope consumers will realise the environmental benefits, not to mention the cost savings, that can be achieved by recycling their empty toner cartridges and using remanufactured cartridges.”
