Canon to launch first green product2 September 2003 – Tokyo (JPN): Canon Will launch a new multi-function printer in November in compliance with strict new European Union (EU) environmental directives for electronic equipment. The printer is the first Canon product to meet the new EU standards which will take effect in summer 2006. Last year Canon established a task force to ensure its future products would comply with the new regulations. The new EU regulations ban the use of six chemicals and two flame retardants used to protect the exterior of electric equipment.
