Danka Business Systems PLC said it is almost finished implementing the Oracle 11i e-business suite system in the U.S., in a move intended to increase efficiencies and reduce costs.
The provider of office imaging equipment and document systems company expects to complete Phase I of its initial rollout this fall, with headcount cuts anticipated over the next two quarters. A Danka spokesman said he couldn’t currently provide any further details.
Implementation of the enterprise resource planning system is part of the company’s reengineering project which was launched in 2001, called Vision 21. The project calls for a flexible foundation to allow the company to expand into complementary business areas.
In a press release Thursday, Danka said it will now focus on realizing the operational and customer service benefits of the system, leveraging its investment and reducing its costs.
Danka said the savings will come from reduced spending related to implementation of the system, and reductions in expenses related to maintaining multiple, disparate, outdated legacy information technology systems and processes, which have been very manual and labor-intensive.
