EU Imposes New Trade Sanctions on US
The
European Union has imposed new trade sanctions against the United
States in retaliation for a U.S. trade law the World Trade Organization
says is illegal.
The new trade sanctions take effect Monday.
They impose $9 million in tariffs on U.S. blankets, paper goods, photocopiers,
and drills.Tariffs on other U.S. products, including some clothing and
corn were imposed last yearThe tariffs are a response to the so-called
Byrd amendment, which allows American companies to recieve proceeds
from anti-dumping duties levied on foreign rivals.
