OfficeMax Won’t be Changing Name Despite Merger
    By Dennis Sied
This tidbit might have slipped under the radar, but Office Depot recently completed its merger with OfficeMax a couple of weeks ago.

The combined company is called Office Depot Inc., and for the time being, both companies will retain their headquarters in Boca Raton, Fla., and Naperville, Ill., and have co-CEOs. But it’s likely one HQ will emerge in Boca Raton, where Office Depot is based.

OfficeMax has a store in Tupelo in Barnes Crossing Plaza, adjacent to Toys R Us.

Both companies also will retain their own websites at office depot.com and officemax.com.

And, each store will retain their own identities.

    Said the companies:

While we work to bring the assets of Office Depot and OfficeMax together, we will continue to operate our retail locations under their current banners. Regardless of the retail location you choose to visit, you will find the services and supplies you need, including leading national brands and the best of our private label offerings.

Office Depot has 1,104 stores in the U.S. compared with OfficeMax’s 828. Office Depot reported 2012 sales of $10.7 billion and employs about 38,000. OfficeMax had $6.9 billion in 2012 sales and employs about 29,000 people
