The fifth international Remax trade show and conference took place on March 31st through April 2nd at the Fira conference centre in Barcelona, Spain, and indications point to a record-breaking success for all concerned.

“We are still breaking down the actual attendance figures,” explains Remax organiser David Connett, “but with pre-bookings of over 2,000 visitors and more than 150 exhibitors displaying the industry’s latest products and innovations, and an excellent program of seminars from industry experts, the ingredients were all in place from the start and it wouldn’t surprise me if this proves to have been the best yet by a long way. Which is great news for all the companies and individuals who have supported us in our move away from Paris.” A full training program accompanied the show, including four seminars from the portfolio of the new Remax Academy, which offers specialised training for remanufacturers and will kick off in the UK later this year. “The Remax Academy seminars we ran at Remax were Basic essentials of (and advanced) inkjet remanufacturing, Fundamentals of mono Laser printers and Introduction to trouble-shooting printers,” says Remax commercial manager Beryl Parmenter, “and the feedback we received from those in attendance has been excellent, making us realise that the Remax Academy program is something the industry is crying out for.” As well as benefiting organisations within the industry commercially and educationally, the three-day show has also helped push the image of remanufacturing to a new high; something that was important for Connett in his work with European organisation ETIRA (European Toner and Inkjet Remanufacturers Association): “The theme of this year’s show was ‘remanufacturing – making waste work’, and I am glad that we have been able to help push the ‘green reputation’ of the industry to the next level, certainly in Europe. It is important for the many visitors we had from the new countries in the EU to see just how important the industry is, what the stakes are for producing quality products for the consumer, and also how we help reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill sites. Hopefully they will take this message back to their countries and develop the industry further.” If your company wants to steal a march on the competition and register your interest in Remax 2005, please contact Stuart Fisher on +44 1993 899 800.
