Ricoh Retires IKON Brand Name; New “Imagine. Change” brand Identity

Ricoh Americas has retired the IKON brand name, uniting Ricoh U.S.A. and IKON Office Solutions under one brand name in the U.S. – Ricoh. The firm says the move will result in a stronger, unified organization, and that, as part of the change, it’s integrating the IKON Web site into http://www.ricoh-usa.com – a visit to IKON’s Web site now redirects the visitor to the Ricoh USA Web site. Ricoh is also launching a new customer self-service site, MyRicoh.com, where customers can request and manage service requests and eventually submit meter reads, as well as order supplies. Ricoh acquired IKON in 2008.

The firm also announced a new global brand identity expressed by the tagline “imagine. change.”
Ricoh’s new brand identity also coincides with its 50th anniversary in the United Sates. During 2012, Ricoh will spotlight its technology breakthroughs from the past half century, as well as the company’s progress on these developments since. The focus will be on helping companies optimize their business processes.

In a press release, Shun Sato, senior vice president of marketing at Ricoh Americas  noted, “This announcement kicks off a new era of even higher-value service to all of our customers. In addition to being a document expert, Ricoh is a full-service provider of business solutions for the evolving needs of our customers. Services-led, technology-enabled and people-driven, we are committed to helping companies harness the powerful information and knowledge that already exists throughout their organizations – often untamed, untapped and buried – to create the future they want.”
