Samsung bets big on ‘competitive edge’ to drive printer sales
    South
Korean technology giant Samsung hopes to snare more market share in the
Philippines’ printing solutions market by introducing products that it
claims has the “competitive edge” over others.

    The
company, which leads the market in LCD monitors, trails behind other
brands when it comes to printers.”By uniting Samsung’s core competency
in semiconductor with our legacy in the personalization of laser
printing technology and leadership in multifunction printers, we have a
distinctive competitive edge to lead the way in both product and
software innovations,” said Spencer Shim, president and CEO of Samsung
Electronics Philippines.Shim also said the unveiling of a new series of
monochrome and color laser printers “marks the ambition” of Samsung
Electronics to extend its technology leadership beyond LCD
monitors.Shim said Samsung will be “targeting” business segments, from
home office and small work groups to corporate users,While it trails in
the Philippine printer market, Samsung reported healthy growth for its
printing industries across the Asian region, with a 33 percent growth
last year. But executives expect that the firm’s use of its own
technology in manufacturing its own product line could turn its
fortunes around, when its come to the lucrative domestic printing
business.”Samsung is one of the few printer makers that have their own
technology of designing laser printer engines. We introduced the
Samsung SCX-4200, the world’s smallest multi-function laser printer
this year, which is based on our proven semiconductor technology,” Shim
said.Industry reports say the local printing industry continues to grow
significantly in both the color laser and multi function
segments.Samsung said it will address this need to provide solutions
emphasizing on speed and resolution, two features that market segments
are likely to look into when making printer purchases. The company
meanwhile also reported that it has launched its latest product lines
in this year’s Samsung IT Roadshow, which the company conducted last
    weeK.
