Smash a Printer, Raise Money for Charity at Urbandale’s Laser Resources Appreciation BBQ

Ever feel like smashing a printer ?

Laser Resources of Urbnadale is hosting an Appreciation BBQ and fundraiser where you can take all those workplace printing aggressions out on a printer."We wanted the opportunity to get closer with the community and give back to our customers in Central Iowa," Thomas Lashier, of Laser Resources said. The company added a charitable element to the event to go along with their motto to be an active part of the community."That’s something we really wanted to take seriously this year," he said.

And so a relationship with Dance Marathon, a group that gives financial and emotional support to Iowa children with life-threatening illnesses through the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital, was created."That’s a very important part of our community," Lashier said. "We are honored and proud to be involved in."

When deciding to do something fun to raise money, the idea of smashing a printer was born."I smashed one up to see how things would fly off it," Lashier said of preparing for Thursday’s barbecue. "It is fun."For $5 guests can smash the printer five times, Lashier said.

Attendees can enjoy a delicious dinner from Jethro’s, as well as live music by Tony Valdez and the Retro Rockets for free during the event.

The event is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday on the pond at 11100 Aurora Ave. in Urbandale. Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP to jody@laserresources.com so organizers have a general idea of attendance.Laser Resources was founded in Urbandale 21 years ago and provides copy and print equipment and services to organizations of all types, Lashier said.
