Although PRC’s Soyprint line of bio toner cartridges, for Canon and HP printers, have been on the market for some time, Future Graphics, who developed the Bio-Black line of toners, has been marketing bio toner cartridges for HP printers. Both companies have intentions to expand their product offering to include bio toner for other office equipment, but to-date, we haven’t seen much movement on this. The sticking point might be that as of March 2012, the USDA Biopreferred Agency had not yet approved toner cartridges as being a biopreferred product, which would mandate that government agencies begin purchasing these products. It is expected that in the next round of meetings that these issues will be discussed, but until the time that they are approved, it is not likely that we will see many new developments from bio toner cartridge manufacturers.
Soyprint bio toners are available from many online distributors, as is Bio-Black. AgriTone, Bio-Black toner cartridges are made by West Point Products and sold through a network of dealers, including Mother Earth Recycling, of PA.
