Staples secures funds to pursue Corporate Express
Staples Inc. announced Tuesday that it has obtained the $3 billion needed to purchase Corporate Express NV, a business-to-business supplier of office and computer products.Lehman Brothers Inc., Bank of America Corp. and HSBC Bank USA have arranged the deal’s financing.The development will enable Staples to proceed with its previously announced public offer for all the outstanding stock in Corporate Express .Staples, based in Framigham, Mass., has about 76,000 workers worldwide.
