Staples makes presence felt in South Florida
January 2007 — Framingham (MA): Staples has expanded into the Broward and Miami-Dade Counties market by opening eight new stores, sponsoring Miami basketball player Dwyane Wade and by donating $155,000 to charity. More formally, the company’s president and COO, Mike Miles, addressed the area’s leading business professionals at the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce Board of Governors and Trustees luncheon.At the lunch, Miles outlined Staples’ plans to open approximately 20 new stores in the area by the end of the year.Miles said: “We have invested in Broward and Miami-Dade Counties because we saw an opportunity to meet the office product needs of an area brimming with small businesses and entrepreneurs. We’re optimistic that we’ll win over these customers with our service, easy to shop stores and unique product offerings.”
