Synnex Teams With HP, Lexmark, Xerox On Printing Solution
(ANOTHER SPYING SOFTWARE FROM HP,LEXMARK & XEROX )
Synnex this week is expected to highlight its transformation to a solutions-oriented distributor for small and midsize business with a new cost-per-print solution developed with Hewlett-Packard, Lexmark and Xerox.Called PRINTSolv, the printing solution is slated to be unveiled Friday to about 400 Synnex VARs attending the Fremont, Calif., distributor’s annual VAR conference in Greenville, S.C.The software will enable VARs to capture page counts, toner levels, device status and utilization of any printing device on a network, said Bill Sheldon, senior vice president of document management for Synnex’s Technology Solutions Division (TSD). VARs then can bid a solution to customers that includes hardware, supplies and maintenance, bundled into a cost-per-page lease.”This allows VARS to easily come into a cost-per-page leasing model, primarily in the MFP [multifunction printer] marketplace and high-end color,” Sheldon said. “And it allows them to manage the printer fleet of their existing customers.”No special certifications are needed to begin selling the solution, though sales staff must be familiar with the printing and document management environment, Sheldon said. Nearly 400 Synnex VARs are expected sell the solution, he added.”This allows resellers to maintain control of the customer. It’s a generic product across all vendors,” Sheldon said. “This product is scalable from 1 to 10,000 [printing devices] and across any number of customers.”The new solution comes on the heels of Synnex COO and North America President John Paget’s move to president of TSD earlier thisweek. Paget said his new role signals the new solutions-oriented model at Synnex.”That’s why I came to the company two years ago [to orchestrate the solutions transformation],” Paget said. “It’s gotten to the point where it has such strong traction that I am going to be spending the majority of my time focusing on the solutions business. This is clearly a major strategic positioning of the company in the solutions distribution market.”
