Distie selects Colin Shepherd as the new head of supplies business unit
By Jack GilbertDistribution veteran Colin Shepherd has been appointed by Tech Data UK as the new head of its supplies business unit.
With his task of helping resellers grow their sales, Shepherd said he intends to do this by making sure that they have access to superior stock and service and by meeting all the needs of Tech Data's resellers.
"Tech Data has access to leading brands such as HP, Epson, Canon and Xerox and a tremendous and unrivalled capability to assist resellers in driving their supplies business," he said.
"I intend to take full advantage of those resources to ensure that our customers have the opportunity to maximise their sales of cartridges and other consumables supplies and accessories they can offer on leading brands with the support of Tech Data."
Shepherd has worked in specialist roles in the distribution industry for over 15 years. He joins from Exertis' Irish operations and before that helmed the UK & Ireland operations of Dutch distributor ACI Supplies.
Tech Data claims to offer £100m in stock holding capacity and stocks over 40,000 product lines for its channel partners. It also says it delivers credit lines in excess of £1.5bn through its Credit Elevator programme which allows resellers to quickly extend their credit line.
