The Turbon Group Teams Up With Goodwill To Collect Empty Cartridge

    Goodwill wants your ink cartridges

Goodwill Industries of Southern New Jersey and Philadelphia has announced a partnership with Recycle Your Empties, a division of The Turbon Group, to recycle printer cartridges.

Through this partnership, Goodwill hopes to keep recyclable cartridges out of America’s landfills to reduce the nation’s carbon footprint.

Printer cartridges can take between 500 and 1,000 years to break down in a landfill. Properly recycled, each cartridge could conserve three quarts of oil, according to Goodwill

“In our 65 year history, we have mastered the recycling process,” Goodwill President and CEO Mark B. Boyd said. “From recycling textiles and household goods to computers, carpet, TVs and now printer cartridges, we have learned how to maximize their value and sustain our environment.”

Donated ink cartridges will be collected at all Goodwill donation centers and then shipped to The Turbon Group’s remanufacturing facility in York, Pa., where they will be repurposed.

The only Goodwill location in Cumberland County is at 1418 High St. in Millville. Donors also can set up an account under Goodwill’s name at http://www.recycleyourempties

.com to receive a free, prepaid mailer and box to ship used cartridges.

The Turbon Group will pay Goodwill a fixed rate for each cartridge collected. Funding will go toward Goodwill’s job training programs, which help local residents with disabilities and disadvantages.
