    Trade show worth millions for Xerox
    65 digital presses are included in contracts
    (MAI 2006) – Xerox Corp. came away from this month’s IPEX trade show in Birmingham, England, with dozens of orders for its high-end production presses, the company said on Wednesday.
    The new business is worth “several million dollars,” the company said, declining to disclose the exact amount of the contracts. The deals were for 65 digital presses and related software, systems and services.The announcement comes two days after the company reported earnings that missed Wall Street’s expectations.Chief Executive Anne Mulcahy said Monday she was disappointed with Xerox’s first-quarter earnings. She also said she expected better results in the remainder of the year. She cited the activity at IPEX as one reason why.Xerox said more than 35,000 people visited its 55,000-square-foot IPEX booth.
    “For eight days the Xerox booth was filled with attendees eager to learn and implement digital strategies,” said Quincy Allen, president of Xerox’s production systems group.Xerox would not disclose the breakdown of its press sales, but at least 15 of the presses were the top-of-the-line iGen3 models, which can cost $500,000 or more.Image Data Group, a British printer, signed a deal that includes an option for up to 10 iGen3s.”Our new Xerox iGen3 marks the start of a major investment program,” Greg Roach, an official with Image Data Group, said in a statement.Xerox said it took its first iGen order for a customer in India at the show.
