U.S.'s Public Printer Testifies Before Congress, Requests $128.9 Million
WASHINGTON- The U.S. Government Printing Office's (GPO) Public Printer Davita Vance-Cooks testified today before the House Subcommittee on Legislative Branch Appropriations on GPO's request for FY 2015.  GPO is requesting $128.9 million. The request will enable GPO to meet projected requirements for congressional publishing, fund the operation and investment of statutory information dissemination projects and programs, upgrade GPO's Federal Digital System (FDsys) with new capabilities to meet increasing demand for public access to digital Government information, continue the development of GPO's new composition system, and carry out necessary facility maintenance and repair project.  In her testimony, Vance-Cooks discussed the advantages of changing GPO's name to the Government Publishing Office to better reflect the role that GPO plays in providing digital access to Government information.

"GPO is committed to transforming from a print-centric to a content-centric publishing operation and this appropriations request will provide us with the resources to continue this effort," said Public Printer Davita Vance-Cooks. "GPO's focus will always be on meeting the information needs of Congress, Federal agencies, and the public."
