UK:Worker sacked after eBay theft probe
A WORKER has been sacked after an investigation into stock being sold on internet auction site eBay.
Darren Turner, boss of Cartridge World, based in Rawtenstall and Accrington, took the action after police gave a 27-year-old employee an adult caution.Police said the employee, from Haslingden, had stolen 81 Epsom printer cartridges worth £1,500 from the Whalley Road store in Accrington between August 16 and October 10 this year.Officers said that the worker was suspected to have been selling on the stolen goods on Ebay.

Mr Turner said the situation had left him angered.
He said: “It’s awful to think that somebody I trusted could steal from me and I would warn other businesses, especially small ones, to be on their guard against this type of crime.”Selling stolen goods is all too easy with the advent of eBay.”I am not going to let this incident affect the good work we are doing with schools in Accrington and environmental action group Civic Pride in Rawtenstall, which we will continue to support, but it is upsetting when you find yourself a victim in this way.”Cartridge World planted 500 trees across East Lancashire last year, winning a Lancashire Business Environmental Award, and is currently donating money to two green projects.Sergeant Allen David, of Accrington, police said a 27-year-old employee from Haslingden had stolen 81 Epsom printer cartridges from Darren’s Accrington store, in Whalley Road, between August 16 and October 10 this year and had been selling them on eBay.Sgt David said he was arrested and issued with an adult caution, as it was his first offence. The worker was then sacked by Mr Turner, following a disciplinary hearing.
