"Food insecurity in Western Pennsylvania is a bigger issue than many people realize. Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank supports 11 counties in Western Pennsylvania in distributing food to those families in need." said company founder Chris Heibert. "Our company was created to help their cause by finding a unique way to reduce the waste in our landfills."

Cartridge for a cause has over 100 business clients in Southwestern Pennsylvania including schools, malls, and property management companies. The organization offers a service for their clientele by delivering recycling bins and picking up the product at no charge. It then reuses and recycles everything that can be, and donates a portion of the proceeds to Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.

Cartridge for a cause takes items that would normally be thrown out, finds a new purpose for them and at the same time donates a portion of the proceeds to Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. In under a year in business the program has resulted in donations of the equivalent of over 6,980 meals to the Food Bank.

The success of the program has resulted in the need for a larger vehicle to handle the rapid increase in accounts.
