Xerox’s Head of U.S. Research & Development Resigns
The Xerox Corp. executive largely responsible for overseeing its sizable manufacturing and R&D campus in Webster, has resigned.
In a companywide memo Tuesday, Xerox Technology President Armando Zagalo De Lima did not give a reason for Willem Appelo’s departure. Appelo has been with Xerox since 1991 and had been a corporate vice president since 2004 and president of Xerox Technology’s global delivery group since early this year.
Working out of Webster, Appelo had overseen manufacturing, purchasing and supply-chain issues worldwide for Xerox’s technology wing.
He reports to De Lima, though he previously had reported directly to CEO Ursula Burns.
Connecticut-based printing and business-services company Xerox employs roughly 6,300 in the Rochester region.According to De Lima’s memo, taking over for Appelo will be Russell Peacock, president of Xerox’s global imaging systems and of Xerox Canada. As such, Peacock oversees sales and service for document-related technology operations in the U.S. and Canada. Peacock has been with Xerox since 1982.
According to Xerox, Appelo will stay with the company for a transition period while Peacock takes over.
A native of the Netherlands, Appelo sits on the boards of the Rochester Institute of Technology and the University of Rochester Medical Center.
