Xerox turnover in Central Asia grows 17% in 2005
    March
06 – Xerox turnover in Central Asia grew 17% to around $19 million in
2005, Gennady German, head of the company’s Central Asian and Caucasus
division, said at a press conference on Thursday in Almaty.

    “The
main achievements last year were a growth in sales of black and white
printers, color laser printers, multi-functional laser printers and
    wide-format plotters,” he said.
    Xerox sales in Kazakhstan accounted
for approximately 80% of the company’s total turnover in Central Asia
last year, German said. “We think that Kazakhstan is the most important
market of all the countries in the region, therefore we are planning a
higher turnover growth rate this year than the average for the entire
    region,” he said.
Xerox turnover in the Caucasus rose 10% to $3.5 million in 2005, German said.
    Sales
of multi-functional equipment will also grow at a fast rate this year
by pushing similar copiers and bubble jet printers to lower market
segments. The growth rate for color printer sales will be higher than
for black and white printers because of the growth in demand for
products printed in color. The growth in sales for network printers and
multi-functional devices will be high because of a growth in demand
caused by bigger enterprises and the appearance of new working groups,
he said.Xerox is planning to increase its turnover in Central Asia and
in the Caucasus by 25% in 2006 considering the market prospects, German
    said.
