Xerox Unit To Lay Off 96 in Charlotte N.C.
A services division of Xerox Corp. is closing a Charlotte operation that processes financial transactions at a cost of 96 jobs.ACS Financial Solutions Group plans to end the jobs March 2.

Most of the employees work part-time and process transactions for a single large client. A spokesman says the client recently merged with a company that does such work inhouse. As a result, the work done in Charlotte will be assumed by the merged companies.

The spokesman declined to identify the client. Its location is far from Charlotte, so local workers aren’t likely to transfer to the client’s operations.“It just didn’t make sense geographically,” he says. The ACS unit is housed at 2701 Westport Road in west Charlotte.
