More than 1,500 organizations worldwide have voluntarily removed or revised misleading environmental marketing claims such as “Go Green – Go Paperless” after being contacted by environmental advocacy group Two Sides, marking a major milestone in its global Anti-Greenwash Campaign. The initiative challenges unsupported claims that digital communications are always more environmentally friendly than paper, emphasizing that responsibly sourced paper is renewable, recyclable, and produced from sustainably managed forests, while digital services also carry significant environmental impacts through data centers, energy consumption, and electronic waste. Since launching the campaign in 2010, Two Sides has successfully persuaded banks, utilities, telecom companies, insurers, and government agencies to adopt more accurate messaging, reinforcing the importance of evidence-based environmental claims and giving consumers the freedom to choose between paper and digital communications. Keywords: Two Sides, paperless, go green, greenwashing, sustainable paper, paper industry, digital communications, environmental claims, paper recycling, forestry.
