Endurmeta, a company located in Flintshire, North Wales, has been hit with substantial fines for unlawfully storing waste at an industrial estate without the necessary permits. The company violated environmental laws by failing to obtain authorization for storing or treating waste.
Over a period of time, Endurmeta kept various waste materials at the site, such as carpets, mattresses, and printer cartridges, all without the required approvals. This posed significant risks to both public health and the environment.
As a result of these infractions, Endurmeta was fined £3,350 and instructed to pay a victim surcharge. The company’s director, Glasbrook, was fined £3,077, ordered to cover £7,687 in prosecution costs, and also received a victim surcharge. Additionally, Glasbrook was disqualified from serving as a company director for three years, effective from 29 April 2026.
The court also issued a remediation order, demanding that both Glasbrook and Endurmeta remove all remaining waste from the site by 29 April 2026.
Improper waste storage, particularly of items like mattresses and carpets, can lead to contamination of soil and water, further harming the environment. This case underscores the critical need for businesses to adhere to proper waste management practices in order to safeguard both public health and the environment. The verdict serves as a stark reminder of the severe penalties faced by companies and directors who neglect waste management regulations.
