The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has officially listed Lexmark Document Distributor (LDD) as an approved technology under its Technical Reference Model (TRM) version 25.5. As of April 30, 2025, LDD is authorized for use across VA systems, enabling secure, automated document capture and routing from Lexmark multifunction printers (MFPs) and PC workstations.
LDD provides a centralized platform for processing and distributing scanned and digital documents. Features include optical character recognition (OCR), barcode reading, image cleanup, metadata extraction, and routing to email, network folders, or enterprise content management systems. The platform also offers interactive prompts at devices and job confirmation capabilities to streamline workflows.
While LDD is approved, agencies must ensure its deployment aligns with VA policies, including FIPS-compliant encryption, access control, and Section 508 accessibility standards. Implementers are required to coordinate with local information security officers (ISSOs) and the Office of Information and Technology (OI&T) before rollout.
