WiZiX Technology Group Acquires California Business Machines in Strategic Expansion.
California Business Machines, Inc., a prominent office equipment company based in Fresno since 1953, has been acquired by Roseville-based WiZiX Technology Group, Inc. This acquisition marks WiZiX’s seventh since its inception just seven years ago, underscoring its rapid growth and strategic expansion within the office technology sector.

Founded by Ray and Lorraine McNally on Inyo Street in Downtown Fresno, California Business Machines (CBM) has long been a fixture in office automation technology, providing both retail and service solutions. Today, the company is managed by Teri Brymer, the daughter of the original founders. Brymer will continue to lead CBM as an independent, wholly owned subsidiary of WiZiX Technology Group.

In a statement, Brymer expressed her commitment to preserving the legacy of CBM while seeking future growth and innovation. โ€œCBM is an integral part of me. I have been working in the family business since attending Fresno State in the early โ€˜70s. The CBM employees and customers are like family,โ€ said Brymer. โ€œI wanted to find a partner who could help take CBM into the future with new products and services, while preserving the core values we hold dear.โ€

WiZiX Technology Group, known for its impressive growth trajectory, has been recognized as one of Sacramentoโ€™s Top 50 Fastest Growing Companies by the Sacramento Business Journal. The company’s founder, Gary Johnson, who has a longstanding career in the office equipment industry with firms like Wolco Business Systems, Zoom Imaging Solutions, and Xeroxโ€™s Global Imaging Systems, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition. โ€œPartnering with Teri Brymer and California Business Machines is an exciting opportunity. My family and I have deep roots in Fresno, where I began my career 40 years ago,โ€ Johnson said.

WiZiXโ€™s acquisition strategy has been notably aggressive, with previous acquisitions including Stanton Office Machines of Fresno, Scott Technology Group of Sacramento, Complete Business Systems of Livermore, Edward Office Systems of Sacramento, Intelligent Copier Solutions of Rohnert Park, and Toshiba America Business Solutions, Inc. of Reno. With their seventh anniversary approaching in October, WiZiX is also gearing up for its eighth acquisition, expected to close on October 1.

Johnson highlighted the dual focus on both acquisition and organic growth. โ€œWiZiX has pursued an aggressive acquisition strategy over the past seven years, complemented by substantial organic growth, which now accounts for over 60% of our revenue,โ€ he said. โ€œIโ€™m extremely proud of our teamโ€™s achievements and optimistic about the future.โ€

California Business Machines, a recipient of the Best of Central Valley Business Readersโ€™ Choice Award for Best Office Equipment Company, is expected to continue its tradition of excellence under the new ownership while embracing new opportunities for growth and innovation.
