Mutoh America Settles for $900K Over PPP Misrepresentations.
PHOENIX, Ariz. – Mutoh America, Inc., a manufacturer in the large-format printing industry, has agreed to pay $900,000 to settle claims that it made false statements on its Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan applications. The company admitted it misrepresented its total employee count by excluding workers at global affiliates, allowing it to receive and have forgiven a loan it otherwise would not have qualified for. The settlement resolves allegations under the False Claims Act, with a whistleblower receiving $90,000 of the payout. The case underscores the government’s ongoing enforcement against fraudulent claims for pandemic relief funds.
