Rochester, N.Y. — Eastman Kodak Company is stepping up its investment in automation technologies as rising labor costs and a tightening workforce challenge the global print industry. The move aligns with Kodak’s broader strategy to enhance efficiency, reduce operational costs, and strengthen its competitiveness in commercial printing.
Labor shortages and wage inflation have become persistent issues for print manufacturers worldwide. In response, Kodak is rolling out advanced workflow and automation solutions—such as the KODAK PRINERGY Platform, which integrates artificial intelligence and cloud connectivity to streamline production and minimize human intervention. The newest version, PRINERGY 11.0, delivers faster job processing, improved automation of repetitive tasks, and enhanced data analytics for print businesses of all sizes.
Kodak executives say automation is no longer a luxury but a necessity. “Rising labor costs are forcing print service providers to rethink their operations,” a company spokesperson said. “By adopting automation, we’re helping customers maintain profitability and efficiency in a changing labor environment.”
The initiative complements Kodak’s broader transformation strategy, which includes expanding into advanced materials and sustainable manufacturing. While automation helps customers navigate industry pressures, it also positions Kodak as a technology-driven partner capable of leading the print industry into its next phase of digital evolution.
