U.S. Ambassador MaryKay Carlson Visits Lexmark Cebu, Underscores Innovation and Bilateral Ties.
CEBU, Philippines — Lexmark Research and Development Corporation welcomed U.S. Ambassador to the Philippines MaryKay Carlson to its Cebu headquarters last week, reinforcing the American company’s role in driving innovation and strengthening U.S.-Philippine economic relations.
The visit took place at Lexmark Plaza 1 in Cebu Business Park and featured a facility tour as well as a strategic roundtable with executives from the American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (AmCham). The engagement reflected deepening bilateral cooperation in the technology and manufacturing sectors.
Ambassador Carlson, accompanied by a delegation from the U.S. Embassy, toured several of Lexmark Cebu’s key R&D hubs, including the Inventor’s Wall, Electromagnetic Compatibility Laboratory, Packaging Laboratory, and Temperature & Humidity Chamber. Guided by senior Lexmark managers, the tour highlighted the company’s engineering expertise and innovation capabilities.
“I’m impressed by Lexmark Cebu’s state-of-the-art facilities and their contribution to both local and global innovation ecosystems,” said Carlson.
A roundtable discussion followed, led by Lexmark Cebu President and CEO Stephan Bily and Christina Quebrata, General Manager of Asia Product Delivery. Topics included regional investment opportunities, policy trends, and strategies to enhance U.S.-Philippine trade collaboration.
Bily, who also serves on AmCham’s Board of Governors for the Visayas Region, emphasized Lexmark’s impact on local job creation and technology transfer.
“Ambassador Carlson’s visit highlights the strategic value of our Philippine operations and our continued efforts to build resilient international partnerships,” Bily said.
Lexmark Cebu serves as a major R&D hub for Lexmark International Inc., specializing in imaging technology and digital workflow solutions for global enterprise clients. The facility employs hundreds of Filipino engineers and plays a vital role in Lexmark’s global innovation strategy.
