Lexmark Loses: Forced to Settles With Flexiworld Technologies for an Undisclosed Sum.
Lexmark has agreed to end its legal dispute with Flexiworld Technologies, a company that accused Lexmark of infringing 15 patents related to wireless printing technologies. The parties informed the court on January 16 that they have reached a settlement and requested a stay of all deadlines in the four lawsuits filed by Flexiworld against Lexmark. The terms of the settlement have not been disclosed.

Flexiworld, a developer of wireless and mobile solutions, sued Lexmark in February 2022, claiming that Lexmark’s printers and mobile printing apps violated its patents. Flexiworld also sued Brother for similar allegations in four separate lawsuits. Brother and Flexiworld announced their settlement in December 2022.

Lexmark tried to dismiss some of Flexiworld’s claims, arguing that they were invalid or not infringed. However, the court denied Lexmark’s motion in March 2023, finding that Flexiworld had sufficiently stated its claims. The court also rejected Lexmark’s request to phase discovery, which would have limited the scope of evidence exchange.

The settlement between Lexmark and Flexiworld marks the end of the litigation that involved eight lawsuits and 15 patents. It is unclear how the settlement will affect Lexmark’s products or business.
