Office Dépôt to Close 6 Paris Stores
Amid Financial Struggles, A New Redundancy Plan in the Works.
Office Dépôt, the well-known stationery chain, is facing serious financial difficulties and has announced the closure of six stores in the Paris region. This move is part of a broader strategy to address its ongoing financial struggles, following a similar redundancy plan four years ago that resulted in the loss of 1,000 jobs and the closure of 10 stores across France.
The company, which has been a staple in office supplies, submitted its insolvency plan to the Bobigny Commercial Court on April 1, 2025. A decision on the future of the company and its plans is expected by April 16. As part of the restructuring process, Office Dépôt is preparing to close nine outlets in total across France, with the Paris region bearing the brunt of the closures.
This decision adds to a growing list of retail closures in the region, including those of Darty, C&A, and Gifi, signaling the ongoing challenges facing the retail sector. As the company grapples with its financial future, many are watching closely to see how the closure of these stores will impact the local job market and the future of the brand in France.
