A federal judge has ruled that a wage-and-hour lawsuit filed by an Office Depot employee can move forward, after the worker submitted a revised complaint with sufficient detail.

Christopher, a sales and service associate, alleges that Office Depot violated California labor laws by failing to pay minimum wage and overtime, and by denying required meal and rest breaks. His lawsuit seeks class action status to represent other affected employees.

The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California had previously warned that the case faced dismissal unless the worker amended his claims with more clarity. Despite missing a filing deadline by one day, the judge ruled the complaint was strong enough to survive. The case now proceeds, potentially opening Office Depot up to broader liability for wage violations across its California operations.
