Ricoh USA, Inc. has reached a settlement in a class-action lawsuit over its $2.1 billion Retirement Savings Plan, which had been accused of excessive 401(k) fees and improper forfeiture reallocation practices. The lawsuit, filed in February 2022 by plaintiffs Keith K. Kruchten, Angel D. Muratalla, and William Begani, focused on claims that the company’s 401(k) fees were too high, impacting participants’ savings, and that forfeited funds were mishandled. Although Ricoh denies any wrongdoing, they have agreed to settle for $1,750,000, which will be distributed to participants on a pro-rata basis. The settlement will cover participants’ recoveries, administrative expenses, and attorneys’ fees, with the court’s approval pending. This resolution brings an early end to a potentially lengthy legal battle, offering compensation to affected plan participants.
