Canon’s New Desperate Push To Find Empty Cartridges in Europe

Canon Europe Introduced Inkjet Cartridges Recycling Program

According to Foka Nieuws, a Dutch news website, Canon Europe had announced on February 7 the launch of its inkjet cartridges recycling program. Starting from that specific day, Canon printer users that live in 15 European countries can now bring their used/empty inkjet cartridges to Canon stores for recycling. This decision was followed by “the successful completion of a probationary period of one year with the program in the United Kingdom and Germany.”

“The Canon inkjet recycling program enables users genuine Canon ink cartridges free of charge for recycling and thus to ensure that no cartridge in the garbage disappears,” stated in the Foka Nieuws. “More than 97% of a cartridge is reused and recycled into other products. The remaining 3% is used to produce energy from waste.”

For those who are interested in participating at Canon’s Recycling Program, you can visit Canon’s Official Recycling Program Page. Presently, Canon has a successful Toner Cartridges Recycling Program going in 20 countries, 16 of them in Europe. The program started in 1990 and was said resulted “in the worldwide collection of more than 287,000 tons of toner cartridges” which “corresponds to a saving of 185,000 tons of new raw materials and 430,000 tons of CO2.

As it is stated by Canon, they give importance to our “sustainability which involves focusing on reducing the environmental impact, engaging with communities and supporting wider economic growth as a part of their company’s philosophy of “living and working together for the common good”.

With this program, Canon Europe and Canon International expects that they will be able to participate more in helping the environment through reducing the raw materials they use in manufacturing. We can only look forward to this and support Canon and its efforts in making a change through this program.
