KMP Receives Nordic Ecolabel For Reman Toner.
The toners of the Bavarian supplies specialist KMP have been wearing the Nordic Ecolabel since January, formerly known as the "Nordic Swan". The cartridges comply with extensive health and environmental regulations and have a particularly gentle effect on the environment over the entire life cycle.Recent market research has shown that the Nordic Eco-label enjoys a high level of acceptance among consumers around the world. The seal is awarded to nonprofit government agencies, which check the local production conditions for each application. KMP fulfilled all requirements: During an audit in the Czech production facility of KMP, the auditors convinced themselves that they adhered to the globally recognized environmental standard ISO 14001. The company already had its production certified according to the international standard in 2010.An important criterion for sustainable action and thus a central prerequisite for Nordic Ecolabel certification is also the resource-saving use of raw materials. For this purpose, KMP successfully demonstrated that at least 75 percent of its recycled toner cartridges consist of recycled components. Another indication is the long-term use and thus the efficient use of raw materials. Consumer satisfaction is also included in the evaluation: As demanded, the complaint rate fell below one percent in all cases. The examiners confirmed the high print quality of the KMP toner cartridges as well as the page output reported by independent institutes.Sustainability, however, does not end with the sale of the cartouche at the Nordic Ecolabel. To minimize resource consumption, the organization requires certified companies to have a take-back program for used cartridges. KMP maintains its own recycling center "Save Resources" for this purpose. This collects empties, which KMP subsequently recycles in accordance with DIN standards or determines for proper recycling. In 2018, for example, KMP saved around 600 tonnes of valuable raw material before incineration as household waste.
