    Heidelberg to Distribute Four New Ricoh Printers in 2015

    Heidelberg will distribute Ricoh’s four recently launched new digital production printers early this year under its global partnership, including an updated digital front end.

    The Linoprint CV and CP, rebadges of the Ricoh Pro C7100x and Pro C9110, are upgrades to the Linoprint C751 and C901 models launched at the last drupa, and focus on higher-end users.

    Heidelberg says the four colour plus white or clear CV aims to offer users more flexibility for the cost-effective printing of short and personalised runs, while the CP is aimed at high-volume users.

    The CV has a print speed of 90ppm while the CP is at 130ppm (150ppm A4 equivalent when running A3) with monthly volumes of a million A4 sheets.

    The company says both models offer ‘greater productivity, near-offset quality, and tremendous substrate flexibility to complex graphics work and commercial printing’.

    When Ricoh launched the printers late last year it said the Pro C7100x series is aimed at companies that are looking to enter new digital print markets, while the Pro C9110 is suited to bigger commercial printers seeking to start up or expand their hybrid digital and offset workflow.

    Heidelberg will sell two other Ricoh printers in Australia aimed at entry-level users, Linoprint CM high-volume, black-and-white digital production machine, which aims to supplement colour production in smaller shops,

    It says the other, the CE, will ‘enable smaller commercial shops, quick printers, and in-plant operations to transition to an upgraded platform at lower volumes and lower cost with no loss of quality’.

    Heidelberg will launch a new version of its Printect digital front end in July for both offset and digital users, promising it will take performance ‘up another notch’.

    “It ensures that all print jobs can be centrally managed in one workflow system, regardless of the selected printing process,” the company says.

    The software supports variable data printing and some of the Linoprint’s finishing options, enabling several print jobs to be produced and ready for sale in a single operation.

    The Linoprint CV, CM, and CE launch in January, with the CP to follow in March and DFE in July. They will be equipped with EFI’s new Fiery FS150 system until the new DFE is out.

    It is not known whether the printers will launch in Australia later than other overseas markets.
