    Hewlett-Packard honors N.C. secretary of state

    Secretary of State Elaine Marshall has been recognized by
    Hewlett-Packard for her department’s efforts against the sale of
    counterfeit computers.

    Marshall
    and Special Agent in Charge of Trademark Enforcement Marvin Clark were
    presented with awards by the computer equipment manufacturer last
    week.State investigators worked with HP in October to charge a Beaufort
    man with criminal use of a counterfeit trademark. The suspect, John
    William Glisson II, had allegedly sold counterfeit toner and ink
    cartridges over his Web site.The awards were presented at the annual
    training conference of the N.C. Anti-Counterfeit Task Force, an office
    established by Marshall in 2004.
