OKI Pursuing Larger Share of Korean Market
OKI Printing Solutions Moves into Korea in Pursuit of Global Leadership in the Color Printer Market.
TOKYO, Oct. 2005 – OKI Printing Solutions (the brand name for Oki Data Corporation) today announced its latest venture – the founding of a new subsidiary company, Oki Systems Korea Co., Ltd.
The company began trading on October 01, 2005 to help drive inroads in the burgeoning Korean marketplace, which OKI Printing Solutions recognizes as a key market to support its pursuit of global leadership in the color market.
It expects that by March 2009, it will have achieved a 20% share of the color page printer market in Korea.
    LED Color and Mono Printers
Oki Systems Korea Co., Ltd will initially concentrate its activity on developing domestic sales for digital LED color and mono printers, however in time will expand its efforts to establishing a network of After Service (AS) and sales agents who will secure product supply and provide invaluable sales support through the OKI Partner Club. The Club is a channel support programme that steers development towards products equipped with superior functions, which OKI Printing Solutions is confident will in turn increase sales.
Mikihiko Maeno, President and CEO of Oki Data Corp says, “Strategically, we’ve identified Korea as an essential step in our climb towards world number one, particularly as it is currently ranked number 10 in the world, in terms of printer market size.”
    Tremendous Potential in Korea
“The Korean color page printer market has tremendous business potential, and we hope to contribute to our customers’ success by meeting their requirements as the business printing solutions specialist,” he said.
OKI Printing Solutions’ sales currently are divided between 51% Europe, 26% US, 16% Asia and 7% Others.
