Police in Flanders have arrested three suspects accused of stealing more than €70,000 worth of goods—mainly printer ink cartridges—from Colruyt supermarkets across Belgium. The group, consisting of two men aged 25 and 30 and a 19-year-old woman, are all of Romanian origin and are believed to have committed multiple thefts in recent months.
The arrests followed an incident in Bree, where a store security guard recognized the trio from previous thefts. The suspects fled the scene, leaving behind shopping trolleys filled with ink cartridges and other items. Police later tracked their vehicle to Maaseik, where officers discovered cutting pliers used to remove security tags. Investigators from the Rivierenland police zone and the Antwerp Public Prosecutor’s Office believe the group systematically targeted Colruyt stores for high-value, easy-to-resell goods. All three suspects have been brought before an investigating judge and remain in custody as the investigation continues.
