OEM’s Now Watching Toner Aftermarket Industry Like Hawks, MORE Lawsuits Expected and a Shortage of Empties.
Industry on edge after a fleet of lawsuits and amazon take downs rattle nerves and sends China clone toner resellers scrambling for solutions.

In the ever changing landscape of an industry in constant turmoil, this past week has shown that reselling clone toner in the US has proven to be as challenging as ever. One huge Recent lawsuit from Canon who went Scorched-Earth on 26 Chinese clone toner resellers and distributors and now, two new lawsuits from Epson who’s is also flexing its IP muscles throughout the industry. Talking to people on the inside we are also finding out that HP will soon be protecting it’s ink Cartridges patents Vs. famous internet retailers who are walking a tight rope on a new ‘protected patent’ (so they think) ink cartridge technology. Also taking its cue from Canon, Brother Industries is still actively taking down toner cloners in the 100’s off Amazom.com, except Brother has decided to keep that information private instead of posting it on their website for everyone to see.

Many of the usual toner cloner reseller are now trying to make up for these loses by trying to switch back to reman’s, but unfortunately there is not enough empties to go around to fill the industries quench for these products. The pandemic, cargo issues along with GEO Political issues have also affected the OEM’s manufacturing process of these products that are desperately needed by the aftermarket. We personally spoke to a remanufacturer who told us that he’s sitting on a million dollars-worth of orders but cannot get the empties to fill the orders and that this has left them scrambling for solutions. We believe that these combined issues will make it hard to fill reman orders for the aftermarket.

If you still sell Chinese clone toner, at Tonernews.com we can’t tell you enough of the risks affiliated with these now well documented counterfeit products. Yes you can run, but you can’t hide from the past so make safe and sound decisions going forward, because the truth solves everything.
